Good Morning

What’s the first thing your hand reaches for when you wake up?
When the sun peeks through the windows, when you feel the warmth on your skin, and your phone’s alarm goes off; waiting for you to either dismiss or snooze for 5 minutes more.

Then the train of thought starts running, you thank God for another chance to hopefully make better decisions than you did yesterday; but after that it’s the instant checking of notifications on your phone. Before you even get out of bed, before you meditate on God’s word and before you hear what He has to say to you; for you to be guided through the day.
Yet you wonder why you feel so lost and empty at the end of the day, maybe you have let yourself get consumed by the world on your phone; perfectly curated to divert your time and attention from something more important in this life.

So maybe, the next time the sun peeks through your windows, you feel the warmth on your skin, and your phone’s alarm goes off. Instead of checking the notifications for messages from your family, friends, loved ones, work, or school. Perhaps you could read first the messages from God.
